Commenter asks for answers

Since Prez Schroeder supposedly reads this blog, let's ask him directly:

  • -President Schroeder, did you have prior knowledge to Kelm's divine call to be a parish consultant?
  • If so, did you approve and rubberstamp it? Are you and Kelm on the same page doctrinally and is he a WELS pastor in good standing?
  • By the way, why are so many parish consultants needed? How many are there and wouldn't another one be excessive?
  • Can't we find a congregation somewhere that needs extra shepharding and better use the talents these men were synodically trained to do?
  • How about cutting back synod agencies at 2929 and making the best use of synod monies by trimming the fat?
  • How about going directly to the good WELS rank and file and asking them what they think?
  • Plan a "survey sunday" for every congregation and ask all members to answer questions and offer suggestions in their sunday bulletins. Maybe direct communication with the people could render some real solutions and put you and others there in the Milwaukee hierarchy in touch with all the members and not just the pastors or DP's. I digress.
  • Back to Kelm, can you investigate this 'call' and see if another consultant is actually necessary? Can you report to the people what all the other consultants are consulting the parishes about? Can't remember the last time my congregation had a consultant or even needed one for that matter. I'm concerned that my offerings are being diverted to pay for padded synodical boards.
  • Can you put my fears to rest?

Thank you for your consideration of these questions and suggestions.

I could be wrong, but I doubt whether Prez S. will respond to your specific questions. Once he starts he knows he will have to respond to many follow up questions. And, who are you?

I will give you the answer to this question of yours:

"Are you and Kelm on the same page doctrinally and is he a WELS pastor in good standing?"

Yes. Otherwise Rev. Kelm would not have been put on the list if he were ineligible for a call, which all which must be approved by the DPs. (The alternative is that either the DP's don't agree with WELS teaching, or Schroeder doesn't.)

Excellent questions that will remain unanswered I am sure.

The most important question is why do we need another parish consultant?

Could someone/anyone answer that???

I, for one, would like to know how to copy and paste material from other denominations. I could use an all-day workshop on that. We would pay big money to Kelm to consult with us on that. Of course, the money would be counterfeit, like the doctrinal statements. Call it poetic justice.

Because the Synod in convention said we needed his position. And who are you to question that!?

Here's a question that does not really belong in this list, but here goes....

With the collapsing financial market and economy, whatever happened to the "Year Of Jubilee" ?

In my church, there has not been one mention of this.

Also, it seems that the financial crisis of 2 years ago has totally disappeared? Was that all a sham?

Does the WELS depend on any endowment that is dependent on stock market performance or other economic factors? Is another crisis looming?

Thank you.

who am i to ask that question?? i'm a lifelong member and support WELS with my offerings and prayers. i believe i had every right to ask that question. i'll ask it again- what do we need another consultant for and what exactly are they consulting about? hey, here's an idea~ let's all make a list of questions we'd liked answered, compile them, and send them up to 2929. as members and supporters, we should be able to ask anything we darn well please.

Hey, here's an idea. Instead of bi+*#ing anonymously on a blog, why don't you do exactly what you said and contact President Schroeder directly and ask him! Christians bringing concerns personally to other Christians, what a novel idea! I've contacted President Schroeder directly on a couple of occasions and have received personal and straightforward answers--within 24 hours even! What ever gave you the impression that you weren't allowed to "ask anything [you] darn well please"?!? My biggest pet peeve in a congregation and in a synod is a member who has questions or problems about an issue, but instead of coming and asking the leaders about it, only gripes and complains behind their backs and grumbles about being owed respect because they are a "supporter" (as if your offerings were meant to buy you privileges in the church). Stop whining, grow up, and direct your questions to the proper place.

OK, rant over. :)

waa, waa, sniff, sniff...
btw, i too have spoken directly with President Schoeder many times in the past. My questions were merely in response to the previous comments. get over yourself and quit whining.

Wait a second here. If you have spoken with President Schroeder "many times in the past", then why in the world (terrible grammar aside) would you ask "who am i to ask that question??"

You say you only posted that in response to previous comments. Perhaps it would have been more constructive to tell previous commenters to contact President Schroeder directly (as you apparently have many times) instead of simply piling on with more misdirected questions.

And once again I'll warn against your self-centered and selfish attitude which you've displayed several times in claiming that your offerings somehow entitle you to answers or somehow earn you the right to grumble. They don't. If that's why you are giving offerings, don't. Stop. God doesn't want those offerings.

I would ask that each of you individually contact Pres. Schroeder with your concerns.

You will come to a clearer understanding of the situation and your concern will send a clear message.

Whoever wrote

You're just an agitator. So, what, are you "paying" for access with your cash and, good heavens, prayers? Trust your leaders.

I guess I was right. Schroeder can't be as forthcoming as the questions demand. Image you know.
