Year of Jubilee

a question from a reader:

This comment does not belong in this thread, but has anyone heard anything about the "Year of Jubilee" the WELS is planning for this summer?

Someone said this has something to do with paying off the millions of dollars that was double spent a few years ago?

What's up with that?

All your sins will be forgiven - if you give enough money. The pope has one of these every so often.

In a year of jubilee all debts would be cancelled. So I guess the synod is going to cancel all the debts owed it. That's nice.

I hear a lot about the Schwann foundation, and all the money it gives to the WELS, ELS, and LCMS.

Did the WELS get overly dependent on this source of income? Can we ask for more from the Schwann foundation to help pay off this "Jubilee" debt?
